Gid HaNasheh (Yeshivah 5781/ 2020), Class One. The Sefer HaChinuch’s take on the Mitzvah of Gid HaNasheh, it reminds us that (even when it appears to be the case) that we are never forgotten and will eventually be redeemed.
Gid HaNasheh (Yeshivah 5781/ 2020), Class One
Gid HaNasheh (Yeshivah 5781/ 2020), Class Two. The Rabbeinu Bechayey’s take on Gid HaNasheh, that we should live higher more meaningful and sublime lives rather than lower and cruder lives. Involvement in lowly things will make us low (and forgetful) while involvement in lofty things raises us.
Gid HaNasheh (Yeshivah 5781/ 2020), Class Two
Gid HaNasheh (Yeshivah 5781/ 2020), Class Three. The first Zohar: Eisav’s Malach (angel) cannot find a way to hurt Ya’akov, so choses to hit what is already his domain: the thighs, which are mystically the NeH”I (that are his in the meantime). But this hurts Ya’akov and his descendants. We compared it to the idea of Azazel.
Gid HaNasheh (Yeshivah 5781/ 2020), Class Four. The second Zohar (Part 1): Torah that lacks financial support is weak and is forgotten and diminished over time. We explained this with the idea of Torah’s ChaBaD (abstract understanding,) and ChaGaS (the prospect of the various ways of determining a Halacha,) being separated from the NeHI (the actual Halacha.) The dilemma of the Rosh Yeshiva and the Rav being two people rather than one. This deficiency is attributable to the Malach of Aisav hitting Yiddin (via their father Ya’akov) in the Nehi.
Gid HaNasheh (Yeshivah 5781/ 2020), Class Four.
Gid HaNasheh (Yeshivah 5781/ 2020), Class Five. The second Zohar (Part 2a): Nevua is explained here (no text is read). First we discussed the idea of Yechidus and the conscious meeting of Nefesh and Nefesh; Ruach and Ruach and Neshama and Neshama; versus the subconscious meetings of Chaya and Chaya and Yechida and Yechida. We then correlated this to visiting the Ohel (“Hishtatchus”) where all WE know is the subconscious aspect of the meeting which is for us hidden. We then explained the phenomena of a Prophet. After his mind is the enlightenment from the Soul “Meeting the Ein Sof” The two aspects of the enlightenment and the “Hasaga” (the takeaway) by the greatest Prophets.
Gid HaNasheh (Yeshivah 5781/ 2020), Class Five.
Gid HaNasheh (Yeshivah 5781/ 2020), Class Six. The second Zohar (Part 2b): Only Moshe has Nevua on all three levels of ChaBaD and ChaGaS and NeHI; the rest only have it in the NeHI level. Thus the expression (by a Novi) in Chassidus: “Chakika” it is carved (not integrated). This is also the fault of Aisav’s Malach hitting Yaakov.
Gid HaNasheh (Yeshivah 5781/ 2020), Class Six.
Gid HaNasheh (Yeshivah 5781/ 2020), Class Seven. The second Zohar (Part 3): The Malach of Eisav hopes to weaken Ya’akov so he can overcome the admission of כי שרית עם אלוקים ועם אנשים ותוכל; and if he would it would leave the possibility for והי’ כאשר תריד ופרקת עולו מעל צואריך but he cannot find a weakness, so he attacks the NeH”I, the weakest link that supports the Torah directly. We resist, and the symbol of that resistance is the refusal to eat (or even allow others to eat) the Gid HaNasheh, this represents a healthy NeH”I leaving Aisav to fail.
Gid HaNasheh (Yeshivah 5781/ 2020), Class Seven.
Gid HaNasheh (Yeshivah 5781/ 2020), Class Eight. Review of what we did until now. Introduction to Derech Mitzvosecha, overview of the Tzemach Tzedek’s Torah and the Sefer Derech Mitzvosecha specifically. A short discussion on NeHI vs ChaBaD and ChaGaS.
Gid HaNasheh (Yeshivah 5781/ 2020), Class Eight.
Gid HaNasheh (Yeshivah 5781/ 2020), Class Nine. Derech Mitzvosecha (2). ChaBaD of Chessed: love and understanding ChaGaS of Chessed: ותרנות tendency towards generosity. NeHI of Chessed: action of kindness’ perhaps without all the emotion. The Malach of Aisav sees the NeHI as vulnerable.
Gid HaNasheh (Yeshivah 5781/ 2020), Class Nine
Gid HaNasheh (Yeshivah 5781/ 2020), Class Ten. Amalaik attacks NeHI by itself, the lack of “light” makes the NeHI bitter and angry.
Gid HaNasheh (Yeshivah 5781/ 2020), Class Ten.
Gid HaNasheh (Yeshivah 5781/ 2020), Class Eleven. Last class on the Derech Mitzvosecha (Gid Hanasheh Ma’amar). The upside of NeHI alone is עם קשי עורף Jewish stubbornness. The downside of NeHI alone is the vulnerability to Amalek’s onslaught. At the very nd of the class we explored the פרי עץ חיים from the beginning HIs נצח is out הוד and that could possibly mean.
Gid HaNasheh (Yeshivah 5781/ 2020), Class Eleven.
Gid HaNasheh (Yeshivah 5781/ 2020), Class Twelve. Likutei Sichos vol. 30 page 148 ff. Class One. Gid Hanasheh reminds us of the everlasting love of Hashem to Yidden; and their immortality. Question why would so something so central be celebrated by something so minor? Answer prefaces the Ba’al Shem Tov’s opinion of Hashgacha Pratis, two big ideas: A. everything (including דצ”ח) have השגחה פרטית. B. every detail of each creations השגחה touches the central theme of creation [נוגע לכללות כונת הבריאה]. Length 35:37
Gid HaNasheh (Yeshivah 5781/ 2020), Class Thirteen. Likutei Sichos vol. 30 page 148 ff. Class Two. In spite of the two universal points about Hashgacha listed above there is still a difference between universal Hashgacha and the Hashgacha Pratis of a Yid: The first is logical’ and therefore though everything is central to creation there remains more central and less central. The second is absolute, where everything is equal. This will explain why the idea of Hashem never abandoning us is remembere3d by something as secondary as Gid HaNasheh,
Gid HaNasheh (Yeshivah 5781/ 2020), Class Thirteen.
Gid HaNasheh (Yeshivah 5781/ 2020), Class Fourteen. Final idea from the Sicha (in vol 30) since every aspect is Etzem all are equally important, Length: 17:08
